Aquaman Embraces Family Life in the First Trailer for ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

In the latest glimpse of Aquaman’s life, Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) has transformed into a husband, a father, and the reigning monarch of Atlantis. Juggling these roles isn’t easy, and it’s bound to ruffle some underwater feathers.

Despite the film’s title, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ the trailer leaves audiences somewhat in the dark about the enigmatic ‘lost kingdom.’ While there were originally seven kingdoms, a menacing ‘Black Trident’ in the hands of Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) threatens to bring about Aquaman’s downfall and endanger everything he cherishes. Black Manta’s intentions are crystal clear: he’s out to destroy Aquaman and his world, even triggering a global catastrophe, as hinted by Atlanna (Nicole Kidman). The urgency to defeat him and protect their offspring is palpable, though not without some unsubtle messaging.

In a surprising twist, Aquaman’s former adversary (and half-brother, in keeping with the family theme) Orm, also known as Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson), reenters the scene for an unlikely alliance with Aquaman, promising an intriguing dynamic and possibly the film’s standout moments. Here’s the official synopsis:

Black Manta, still haunted by his father’s death and fueled by vengeance, is determined to vanquish Aquaman once and for all. Armed with the mythical Black Trident, he wields a menacing ancient power. To stop him, Aquaman must seek help from his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, and together, they must set aside their differences to safeguard their kingdom, rescue Aquaman’s family, and protect the world from irreversible calamity.

Reprising their original roles, the cast includes Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, who now must balance his responsibilities as the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson as Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother turned reluctant ally; Amber Heard as Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, more determined than ever to avenge his father’s death; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a formidable leader with the heart of a warrior. Also returning are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
